Howdy folks!

Welcome to the new website!

It’s been a while since this blog has been updated.  It has been a great resource for CSA members and market customers for many years.  This blog is a great way to share both stories from the farm as well as some great recipes and cooking tips.  So we figured it was about time to revive it.

First things first, there has obviously been some changes around here in the last year or so.  In case you didn’t get the memo….Early Morning Farm and Main Street Farms have MERGED!!!

That’s right, we are joining forces from here on out.  If you haven’t heard the news, after 20 years being out standing in the field, Early Morning Farm founder and owner Anton Burkett has decided to hang up his farm boots and pursue other endeavors.  We wish Anton the best of luck.

For those of you who don’t know us (Main Street Farms), we recommend you check out the new “About Us” and “Our Story” sections of the new website to learn more.  Back in 2011, when Main Street Farms was just a young seedling, it started with just 2 friends.  Allan and Bobcat.  It began as an Aquaponics farm, raising Tilapia and greens year round.  Quickly they realized they had big dreams of feeding lots of people in their surrounding communities and decided to start finding more land to farm in the soil.  They started their first CSA season in 2013.

In those early years, they often looked up to Early Morning Farm as the benchmark for CSA farms in the area.  In fact, they became friends with Anton and he even served as a mentor at times.  Not only did he share knowledge and information, but quite a few former EMF employees have come to work at Main Street Farms and shared their EMF knowledge and experience as well.

So when the opportunity arose to buy the business from Anton, it seems like a natural fit.  In addition to some equipment and taking over the Ithaca Farmers Market stall, we felt that all the resources Anton had built up on the website was priceless.

During this transition, we have been using both names.  Going forward, we plan to move back toward just using one name, our original Main Street Farms business name.  That being said, we plan to keep all the old blog posts and recipes on the site.  We thought about going back through and replacing Early Morning Farm with Main Street Farms, but it just didn’t feel right.  We felt that we wanted to honor all the work that Anton put in over the last 20 years by keeping his story alive.

We hope you enjoy the updated website.  We apologize that some bookmarks from your favorite recipes may have moved, but we assure you that they are all still there.  If you simply replace “earlymorningfarm.com” with “mainstreetfarms.com”, it should get you to where you want to go.

We are excited for what the future holds.  For both this farm and this blog.  We plan to be much more active from here on out.  We will be sure to share lots of stories from the farm.  And some new fun recipe and cooking ideas as well.  We will also be creating more content over on our youtube page, so be sure to check that out.
