It’s an amazing time of year to live in New York State! The weather is staying mostly mild, it’s the height of the fall harvest, and if you plan carefully your whole meal can be locally sourced! We’re lucky to have some great farmer friends and CSA Share pick-up sites to source local and sustainable products for celebratory meals. For a farm fresh turkey Good Life Farm has local pastured certified organic turkeys available – contact Melissa@thegoodlifefarm.org to reserve yours. You can also find local pastured turkeys from our friends at Autumn’s Harvest Farm. If you’re looking for local sundries to prepare your meal, stop by one of our pick-up sites for local flour, butter, milk, eggs, and cheese. Check our Local Sources Page on advice for where to shop in your area.

While you’re working on a locally sourced meal, don’t forget the beverages! New York State covers all of the bases in hand-crafted beverages. Pick-up a jug of apple cider at any of the many Farmers’ Markets in the area. Serve warm or chilled with or without rum on the side. Try one of the many locally produced ciders in the area, ranging from dry to sweet. For wine pairings stop by and see our friends at Bet the Farm . I’d start the evening out with their Pinot Gris or Trimainette and end with Twice Noir. Look for a local reisling, sweet or dry. Beer drinkers – NY has every ale your heart desires. Pair a classic turkey dinner with crisp IPA, Belgian Saison, or a brown ale. Go ahead and break out a pumpkin ale with the cheese platter or dessert.
