Making your own breadcrumbs is so easy it’s hard to believe they sell them in a can. It’s just as easy if not easier than making your own croutons. If you can’t eat wheat, use your favorite gluten free bread to make bread crumbs. If you can eat wheat use a loaf of local bread! Any bread can be made into breadcrumbs, so I actually used some whole-grain buns that were leftover. I also save ends of bread in the freezer for breadcrumbs.
Really stale old bread will result in really stale old tasting bread crumbs. You do want the bread to be a little dry, so you can toast in the oven or just put it in the toaster. Tear the bread into chunks and place them in a food processor.
Process until fine and crumby!
