CSA Harvest Forecast
As warm as it has been it’s really hard to believe that Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer is this Monday! Tomatoes are starting to wane – and we’ll be picking our first Winter Squash next week, starting with the Delicata variety.
Pretty Sure:
Lettuce
Potatoes
Carrots
Delicata Squash
Slightly Less than Certain:
Tomatoes
Peppers
Eggplant
also possible:
Cabbage
Mizuna
Broccoli
Escarole
Hot Peppers
Kale
So Dusty and Dry!
It’s been in the 80’s all week and we can’t remember – When was the last time it rained? 2 maybe 3 weeks ago? Somehow, most of our crops are doing remarkably well. Even after a couple decades of doing this farming thing, it still surprises me how resilient plants can be in dry hot weather.
There are limits though, and the heat and dry are definitely slowing growth down on everything that we have in the ground.
So, do a little rain dance for, us will ya! 🙂
