Week 2: June 17th – June 21st
Basic Share Box: Spinach, Kohlrabi, Arugula, Lettuce, Hakurei Turnips, Carrot, Beets, Radish, Collards, Strawberries, Napa Cabbage
Week 2 is here and so are the very first of our strawberries! While that’s probably the most exciting part of this week’s share there are lots of other goodies in there including Hakurei Turnips. Hakurei turnips are also known as salad turnips, and are delicious raw and cooked. The greens are edible, remove the greens from the turnips and store in separate bags in the vegetable crisper. Cook the greens like you would any other hearty greens – great sautéed with olive oil and garlic. Radish greens are another interesting green to try, separate the greens from the radishes and add to a mixture of other salad greens. They add texture and a peppery flavor to salads.
