This Photo: This week we harvested some of our winter wheat that we had planted as a cover crop last fall using an old John Deere 55 combine from the 60’s. We plan on using the grain for cover crop seed this coming fall.

The Forecast!

The anticipation for a big tomato harvest is really building – everyone on our harvest crew is super excited. We were able to get a few for the farmers’ markets and possibly by the end of the week we may have tomatoes in our boxes. Lettuce is on the verge of being back – but probably not until the end of the week shares. Peppers are starting to come on stronger and we’ll try and get 2 in every box this week.

Likely
Peppers
Eggplant
Squash
Kale – Red Russian
Fennel
Escarole or Radicchio

Possible
Beets
Cabbage
Swiss Chard
Kohlrabi
Lettuce

Taking a Break for the Week:
Carrots
Onions – except maybe early in the week.

Coming up!
Potatoes
Tomatoes
Bok Choy
Lettuce

Don’t be Intimidated by Escarole!

Just use it up – it’s yummy!

Please, Please – Tell your friends!

We are still taking signups. In fact, the students are about to head back to College and we count on picking up quite a few CSA members this time of year. So please help us keep doing our good work – spread the word about our CSA to all of your friends and relations!

Thanks so much for your support – Happy August!
