This week we brought more rain but fortunately the worst of the storms missed our farm and by the end of the week we even had some sunshine. The rain really had us bummed out about our strawberries and mid week we had pretty much written off the years crop and were preparing to mow it and plow it in. But then we looked again at the end of the week and the damage caused by the rains seems to be less than we originally assessed, it looks like we might just be able to get them in the boxes this week – Hurrah!
Our roots from cold storage are starting to wind down, the Carrots, Beets, Purple Top Turnips and Watermelon Radishes have all been handed out. We do still have Parsnips and Celeriac and they will be in the boxes this week. We should still have plenty of those wonderful white Hakurei Salad Turnips (did you try those raw yet!), and there’ll be more Kohlrabi, Kale, and Lettuce as well. It looks pretty likely that there will be Escarole in the boxes this week and by the end of the week we might have more Scallions, Basil, Parsley, and the second plantings of Napa Cabbage and Bok Choy.
Coming up soon are Fennel Bulb, Cabbages, fresh harvested Beets, Radicchio, and Summer Squash.
