Week 16: September 23rd – 27th
It’s a beautiful day on the farm for the first official day of fall! In the spirit of the fall season, some great crops are coming in from the fields and our crew is working hard packing CSA Share boxes. This week brings more delicata squash, and carrots instead of beets. Hakurei Turnips are back! This fall harvest brings large turnips with the greens attached, great in the farro salad or try adding raw turnips to green salads. Turnips are also a nice addition to stir-fries. In addition to lettuce we’re including peppery arugula in this week’s share. A farm favorite, enjoy arugula raw or cooked. Add bite size pieces to lettuce as the base for a salad or toss some in a stir-fry. It’s collard greens instead of kale this week, and the Caldo Verde soup is perfect for fall. Happy Eating!

Planning ahead can make meals easy during the week. If you have time grab kitchen partner and do a little chopping ahead of time. During the week pull out your prepped items and our recipes are even easier.
Caldo Verde. Slice the vegetables ahead of time. Make the whole soup 2- 3 days ahead of time.
Panzanella. Make croutons 2 – 3 days in advance.
Stir-fry. Pre chop veggies the night before for a quick weeknight meal.
Salad. Make the dressing in advance. Clean the lettuce and store in an airtight container.
Farro. Cook the farro ahead of time.
